Job Objective: The job trainer will work with students at job sites.  These sites include a variety of businesses such as restaurants, grocery stores, and hotels. This component allows students to experience community employment in very practical ways as they gear up for transition to adult services.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid state department of education license/permit as determined at the time of appointment. (minimum Educational Aide Permit)
• Meets mandated state/federal criteria (i.e., approved degree, completion of requisite higher education credit hours/courses, or acceptable score on an authorized professional standards test).
• Educational aide permit required.
• Available to work a non-traditional schedule and irregular hours when required.
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment. · Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
• Ohio Van Driver Certificate is required. Employee must maintain eligibility to be covered by the service center insurance carrier. (NwOESC will provide this training.)

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Arrives on time prepared to work. Complies with established work schedules.

• Performs non-teaching support services as a collaborative member of the educational team.
• Helps identify work-based learning opportunities for students. Monitors job training sites to ensure compliance with child labor laws, insurance guidelines, work environment safety, etc.
• Analyzes jobs to identify tasks to be incorporated into classroom training activities.
• Prepares/distributes program materials. Prepares program equipment for use. Keeps program areas orderly. Cleans/maintains equipment as directed.
• Helps with classroom records and data collection. Verifies the accuracy of information as directed.
• Helps students develop job readiness skills (e.g., identification of job search resources, resume development, application/interview procedures, employee conduct expectations, etc.).
• Operates a service center vehicle to provide authorized student transportation to job sites.
• Uses program guidelines to monitors student performance (e.g., acts as a liaison between employers and students, requests s employer evaluations, schedules job site visits, completes job related paperwork/client reports etc.).
• Identifies curriculum and job site improvements to enhance job readiness skill training.
• Provides student assistance with daily living activities, behavior management, discrete trial training, instructional support, social skills training, task redirection, etc., as directed.
• Assists individuals and small student groups with remedial or enrichment activities.
• Reinforces instructional objectives introduced by the teacher/intervention specialist.
• Supports an inclusive educational environment. Helps students assimilate into the school and work environment. Helps implement classroom accommodations as directed by the teacher.
• Works with program staff to identify student assistance strategies most likely to be effective.
• Provides on-site monitoring of assigned students. Uses technical and manual skill to assist students with job duties as needed to facilitate a productive vocational experience.
• Helps students manage the learning environment (e.g., access/proximity to activities, assistive technology, augmentative devices, mobility assistance, use of instructional/media resources, etc.).
• Encourages student accountability, active participation, cooperation, punctuality, dependability, etc.
• Attends to student concerns discreetly when assistance is requested.
• Evaluates/documents student progress (e.g., task analysis forms, narratives, etc.). Shares information with school staff and employers as needed to support training objectives.
• Assists with non-classroom activities (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips, etc.)

 

 

LOCATION: Fulton County (Homebase is Wauseon High School)

CONTRACT:  Per the 2025-26 school calendar and beyond.

SALARY:  Per the adopted salary schedule based on training and experience
